The significant aspect of the Avalon House is the landscape. I choosed black and white scheme because a dramatic drawing of the landscape could be achieved from tonal variation of pencil. Its hard to achieve it using colour pencils. Furthermore, trees also is one of the important element in the landscape. I choosed a very soft green colour by using soft pastel. The reason behind this is because to prevent the colour of tree to outshine the landscape. Apart from that, another aspect of my drawings is the composition. What I want to portray here is continuity and unity of a presentation drawing. The part that i found in the making of the drawing is how to control the tonal variation. Plus, I do not know hot to draw shadow in architectural drawing.
What I found difficult in making the model was to cut the contour. In this exercise, we were given a choice to choose a selection of material to differentiate different element of the side. The materials that I choose were Balsa for timber,boxboard for the contour, wire for the trees, and corrugated box for the rock. while for the creek, I peeled off on of the layer of the boxboard to get a textured skin.
Fisher House by Louis Kahn has a very interesting approach of design principle. He used classical grid method in most of his design. In term of making this model, I find it difficult to make a craft detail model at a large scale. Much caution have to take in making the model. Balsa has been the main material for my model and I manipulated the use of it to describe different part of the house.
The significance of Church of Light by Tandao Ando is how he conveys light into the building. Its a very unique church. To make the model of the building is not that difficult. However, I find that to capture photographs and deliver the meaning of the building is a bit tricky. I play with natural light and shadow in photographing the model.
As you could see from here, it seems like the Angela Markel’s office looks like its one part of the cliff. And the form of the cliff is continued using the curve shape bridge connecting to the Miranda Kerr’s office. Both of the client is known tohave a large influence in their own country. Not only that, they also successful to broaden their idea to the other part of the world. This is the reason why the elevator’s tunnel is made up of glass. The wide view seen by the clients when the elevator coming down totally suit their influence around the world.
The Meeting Place
The form of the meeting place is purposely build according to the shape of the surrounding environment which is oval shape.
Angela Markel's Office
Angela Markel patiently takes step by step to achieve her position in Germany leadership. The office looks like a stairs just like how Markel progressively build up her career.
Miranda Kerr's Office
I describe Miranda as a young, intelligent, sharp, and also beautiful. Her characteristic is portrayed trough her office. As you could see, the extended part of the building looks like it reaching for the star just like Miranda who has high determination and hope to save the environment.
The Meeting Place and Table
The table and the meeting place convey the sense of power of the both client. Both of it has a wired structure connecting to the below and above plane. This portrays how both of the clients communicate and connect the public to accept their idea. For example, Markel succeed to make warm relationship with other leaders of the world when her government was in hobble state. On the other hand, Miranda succeed to inspires young generation in taking responsibility to the environment. Plus, The wired structure of the meeting place also imitate the rough surface of the cliff.
The Meeting Place and Table
The meeting place is extended to a large and long platform just like how the clients endlessly extend their influence to the public. The openness of the building is also convey their determination to extend and widen their influence internationally.
